SPRIG

Promoting Information in Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism

March 2011

SPRIG members have recently voted in favour of a proposal put forward by the current committee to disband the organisation.

SPRIG was formed over a decade ago to support those involved in the promotion of information resources for Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism via a Bulletin, mailing list, website and annual event. Since the formation of SPRIG, there have been dramatic changes in the way that information is accessed by our members and hence the nature of the support that is required. Membership of SPRIG and attendance at our annual events has dropped significantly and the Bulletin and mailing list are no longer the most appropriate mediums to offer support.

The SPRIG committee is composed of volunteers, all of whom have experienced a change in their job roles and workloads. As a committee, we feel that we and SPRIG are no longer able to fulfil the commitment that it has made to its members. An extraordinary committee meeting was recently called with the express purpose of deciding the future of SPRIG.  Several options for taking the organisation forward were discussed, however those present at the meeting ultimately decided that SPRIG as an organisation is no longer viable and our members have agreed with this course of action.

Therefore although this website will remain live for the foreseeable future, it will not be updated.

Thank you for your support of SPRIG.
