Introduction
This guide aims to highlight some of the principal sources in the history of sport. There are numerous publications on the history of individual sporting activities both in the United Kingdom and abroad. This guide is intended to be a general introduction to this subject. It is not to be seen as an exhaustive listing. It is aimed at students at undergraduate level and for researchers.

Developed by the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC), SPORTDiscus
covers both the practical and research literature on sport, physical fitness
and physical education. It indexes periodical articles, books, conference
proceedings, dissertations and theses, research papers and other publishing
forms. It also includes HERACLES, a French-language bibliographic database
covering sport, physical education and fitness.
